We feel we have a good thing going so we are continuing our education of mattresses and beds.  This week our discussion centres around Saskatoon International Furniture Wholesalers Mattress Sizes.

What can we say about the different sizes of mattresses?  I mean really how hard can it be to choose a mattress size?  Well, you may be surprised to find out that one of the biggest mistakes adults make when buying a mattress is buying one that is too small.  Another fact that may surprise you is that there are over 20 different sizes available on the market today.  Even though there are many mattresses there are only a few common ones.  So what are they?

Single Size Mattress (AKA Twin and 39 inch)

At 38″ by 74″ this bed is great for kids as the length is often too short for many adults.

Full Mattress (AKA Standard Size Mattress)

This is also great for kids as it is the same length as a single but wider (53″).  Some adults try to use this mattress but it is often too short.  Also if you have two people sharing a bed each person has 26.5″ of real estate to get a good night’s sleep.  This is not enough.  To put it in prospective a crib mattress is 27″ wide.  Why do we think as adults we can sleep in a space smaller than a baby or a toddler?

Queen Mattress

This is the smallest mattress that adults fit into and have enough space to share their bed with a partner comfortably.  For this reason, this is the most common sized mattress on the market today.  At 60″ wide and 80″ long this gives you quite a bit of room.

King Mattress

This is the deluxe mattress in terms of size.  You have more than enough room for two people.  You can even add a couple of kids and some pets and you will still have a ton of room.  While this is the best mattress in terms of sleeping space, it can often be a difficult fit into a lot of homes because of its size.
