Durable fabric for furniture in Saskatoon homes is so important and yet as shoppers we don’t always think too hard about it.  We always ask the sales people if the couch or chair is good quality and can handle our lifestyle.  We may even ask if the fabric is stain resistant or Scotch Guarded.  But often that is where our conversation ends.  What we don’t ask is if the fabric will fade, or if cleaning it too much will cause it to fray or most importantly how is it made.

Nuvella New Performance Fabric

Nuvello has come out with a new process of making fabric that makes it easy to clean and durable.  While traditional fabric is made and then

wet dyed Nuvella’s new performance fabric has the color infused into prior to making it so the color is consistent throughout the fabric.  This process is called Solution Dyed.  It is like comparing a carrot and a radish.  The carrot is orange the entire way through so when you take layers off of it the color is still vibrant.  A radish only has red on the outside.  Any disturbance of the top layer and the color will begin to fade until all the red is gone and only the white is visible.

Now imagine this as the fabric on your new couch.  Each time you clean a spill on the traditional fabric you lose a bit of color until the color of your beautiful couch has faded and is inconsistent.  With the Solution Dyed fabric each time you clean a spill nothing changes.  Wow!!!!!

How to Clean Solution Dyed Fabrics

1. First get fabric dirty-that’s the fun part.
2. Then add water and soap.
3. Scrub it with a brush.
4. You can also use diluted bleach.
5. Rinse.
6. Lastly dry.
7. Done.
